| Vintage clothing shop Bandit MKE opening on Brady Street June 1 - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Posted: 18 May 2021 12:00 AM PDT CLOSE A new vintage clothing and accessory store, Bandit MKE, is opening on Brady Street. Bandit MKE at 1224 E. Brady St. will open June 1. Bandit will stock vintage clothing and accessories spanning from the 1950s through the turn of the millennium. Customers can expect to find '50s fit and flare dresses, '60s mod, '70s boho and '80s sequins. Bandit also has jewelry, hats, belts, shoes and sunglasses. Co-owners Nichole Larson, Liz Kiesling and Michelle Eigenberger said the idea is to be inclusive with clothing stocked without size or gender labels. The owners want to sell "clothes for everybody and every body." Most items are between $10 and $40. Larson, Kiesling and Eigenberger have each been selling vintage for years. The trio hosted its first event in January 2020 at Hawthorne Coffee Roasters. Last summer, they hosted pop-up shops in Kiesling's backyard. Customers lined up down the block. "Our backyard sales were so successful that we were like we have to open a store," Larson said. They found the spot on Brady Street in November and have been reworking the space into a retail shop. Liberal talk radio station Resistance Radio moved out of the 900-square-foot space in 2020. Bandit will also buy clothing from customers to sell. "While vintage is how we all came together, what's really important for us is sustainability and recycling the clothes," Larson said. "So we don't feel like we need to have the snobbishness of vintage, like oh it's from 2000. We want to give people what they want but we also want to recycle the clothes." The co-owners are eager to bring a new vintage shop to the street. "There isn't retail here anymore," Kiesling said. Green Fields closed last year. Uncommon Items left Brady Street in 2019. Dragonfly Vintage Goods closed. Annies Vintage Clothing has moved away. "We want to recognize the history of Brady Street being the place to come to find cool vintage and revitalize that," Eigenberger said.
