Written by Sara Spary, CNN A sweater made famous by Princess Diana has been reissued by the designers, four decades after she sported the bold red knit, which features dozens of white sheep and one black sheep on the front. The wool crewneck sweater was created in 1979 by British designers Warm & Wonderful and shot to fame when the late princess, a beloved fashion icon, was photographed wearing the design at a polo match with Prince Charles in 1980. The original piece worn by Diana is now part of the Victoria & Albert Museum's permanent collection. But the look will feature in episode three in this month's upcoming fourth season of Netflix's "The Crown"-- which is famed for its painstaking attention to detail. A few weeks ago, as sweater weather came on in full force, I opened up my sweater drawer to a little October surprise. While I have accrued a decent amount of sweaters in my lifetime, I found that a majority of them were standard, plain, cashmere (or cashmere-esque) crew neck sweaters—each a different neutral-ish color. LIVERMORE — More than two dozen trees in downtown Livermore are being kept toasty warm in decorative sweaters as part of a yearly art project. Once called “yarn bombing,” the knitted or crocheted tree “sweaters” are more like blankets knitted around the trees, made by a team of locals, some of them kids, that decorate the trees in colorful yarn, even with 3-D images. The sizes vary: some cover most of the tree trunks, and others just a branch or smaller portion of the tree. One tree has images representing major holidays on it (Easter, Fourth of July), another features Grover from the Muppets, another displays a collaboration of mandalas dangling from a larger tree sweater by children from kindergarten through the fifth grade. Two trees had “Black Lives Matter” sweaters, but both were immediately stolen. “We put our heart and soul into this. It’s here: the season where fashion meets the standards of both comfort and style. Sweaters are the hybrid of class and ease that is the essence of great style.
