Jennifer Lopez Almost Didn't Wear That Iconic Green Versace Dress - E! NEWS Posted: 21 Sep 2019 03:02 PM PDT The dress that made the world stop. Jennifer Lopez is taking a walk down memory lane and opening up about the iconic green Versace dress she wore to the 2000 Grammys. Yes, the one that launched Google images and has become part of pop culture history. Putting it back on people's radar (not that it ever left our minds, amiright?), the 50-year-old star recently shut down the Versace runway show during Milan Fashion Week wearing an even more dramatic version of the original design. However, J.Lo reveals she almost didn't wear "the dress." Speaking to Vogue, the Hustlers actress recalled that her stylist at the time, Andrea Lieberman, didn't exactly want her step out on the Grammys red carpet wearing a dress that had already been photographed on Spice Girls' Geri Halliwell and Donatella Versace herself. "[Andrea] came with three dresses, which I'm very spoiled now, people come with a thousand dresses when they come to a fitting for me," she said with a laugh. "That day, there's two or three dresses, and I'm looking." She continued, "I tried on the green one, I came out, everyone was there, glam and everybody, and they were like, 'That's the dress.'" ![]() Chris Delmas/ZUMA Press; WWD/Shutterstock However, J.Lo's stylist at the time wasn't part of the crowd cheering on the design for an understandable reason. "Andrea, my stylist, was like, 'No you can't wear that.'" "She was like, 'No, it's just that you can't wear that one. Somebody else has worn it," the Hustlers actress recalled. "Actually, Donatella herself has worn it. One of the Spice Girls has worn it. Sandra Bullock has worn it in another color.'" However, the "Medicine" singer was adamant that she was stepping out with that Versace number. "I said, 'This is what we're gonna wear. This is it.'" And as they say, the rest is history. Over the years, Lopez has worn several versions of the green design. But it became a viral moment once again after she hit Versace's runway on Friday afternoon. "So this just happened," the 50-year-old star captioned her Instagram video. It's safe to say fans can't get enough of the fierce and fabulous lewk, so keep these updated versions coming Donatella. |
Bride-to-be horrified as stranger sends her fiance snaps of her wearing her £200 gown - The Sun Posted: 24 Sep 2019 02:02 AM PDT A BRIDE-TO-BE was horrified when a troll set out to "curse" her big day, by sending snaps of her wedding dress to her fiancé after she posted them in a private Facebook group. Amber Merritt, 23, took to social media for advice when she "fell in love" with a £200 wedding dress after already forking out £450 for a gown she thought was The One. The customer assistant posted photos of herself in both dresses along with a plea for "encouragement" to follow her heart and buy the second dress for her big day instead. A true believer that it is bad luck for the groom to see the bride's dress before the wedding, Amber posted her predicament in a private group so her fiancé Michael Smart, 21, wouldn't see it. But within minutes of her post going live, a troll who appeared to be using a fake account had saved Amber's pictures and sent them to Michael, who is also a customer assistant. Thankfully, other members of the group had warned Amber that this may happen and she had in turn told Michael not to open any messages from unknown Facebook users. While the troll's cruel plan was foiled, Amber, who says she has no known enemies, was left stunned that a stranger would go to such lengths to try to ruin the best day of her life. Amber, of Farnborough, Hampshire, said: "I was in total disbelief. I couldn't get over it. I can't believe someone would take the time out of their evening to do that. "They clearly just get a kick out of being an annoyance. "I believe it's bad luck for the groom to see the dress before the wedding so knowing someone sent it to him was really annoying. "It's literally like a stranger wishing you bad luck in your marriage. It's horrible.
"Luckily after I put the post up people had warned me that this might happen. It hadn't even crossed my mind. "I don't have any known enemies and I didn't think that some stranger would do that. "After I got the warnings, I told Michael to give me his phone before opening any message requests. "Within minutes, he came over to tell me he had a message and when I opened it there were all the photos of me in the dresses. "I think it was a fake account because there wasn't a profile picture and some of the girls from the group have said the same. "If I hadn't been warned and Michael had just opened that message, I don't know how I would have felt and I don't want to know. I would have been absolutely furious." After Michael popped the question six months ago with a solitaire ring with a silver and rose gold twisted band, Amber started looking for dresses. The lovebirds are getting married in August 2020 and have a dinosaur-theme planned for their big day. Bride-to-be Amber committed to a size 10-12 mermaid dress with an embellished lace corsetted bodice and tulle skirt about four months ago. While she thinks the gown is gorgeous, Amber never felt particularly excited by it and knew it needed a lot of alterations. She hoped that once the dress had been adjusted to fit her size 8 figure and had some jewels added to the skirt, it would be perfect. However, last week Amber was scrolling through Facebook when she spotted a £200 size 8 lace mermaid gown with a slimmer fit and a sheer button-up back. After going to try on the gown last Thursday, Amber "fell in love" but needed some reassurance that buying the second dress was the right choice so took to social media. Amber posted: "Girls I am in a serious predicament. "I already have a wedding dress that I paid £450 for and I love but needs a lot of alterations and additions such as straps taken off and adding crystals on the skirt because it feels so plain on the bottom. "But I saw one on Facebook for £200 and I went to try it on and I am in love. "I want to buy it but I need some more encouragement that it's better than the first one. "I feel like it fits better so needs less alterations, just spaghetti straps or something because it doesn't stay up great with my big bust. "I can sell my original dress and get a veil for less than my current dress." Hundreds of people flooded the comments to tell Amber she should absolutely buy the second dress. After the troll messaged Michael, Amber update her post to let people know what had happened and thank those in the group who had warned her. Amber added: "Girls thanks for the warning because it actually happened. Can't believe someone would send my partner the pictures. WTF. Sad people. "Luckily I told him to hand me the phone if he got any random messages so he still hasn't seen so f*** you whoever you are with your sad life." Other members of the groups were outraged for Amber, branding the troll a 'horrible cow' who 'doesn't deserve to get married or have a beautiful dress'. Thanks to the encouragement of the kinder members of the group, Amber has now bought her dream dress. The bride-to-be will wear the floor-length mermaid gown for her ceremony before changing into a shorter dress to dance the night away at her reception. Amber said: "My new dress is absolutely lovely. I definitely know it's the one. "I thought the first dress was the one but I never really got that emotional or excited about it. "But as soon as I tried on the new dress, I got so excited. I can't wait to wear it. I wish I could wear it every day.

Kate Middleton's dresses 'sometimes get their own seat on flights' - Mirror Online Posted: 21 Sep 2019 03:09 AM PDT Passengers travelling on low cost airlines will almost always face the typical drama of having to fit all their clothes in a 10kg or so baggage allowance. But that doesn't seem to have to be a worry for Kate Middleton, who was recently spotted with her husband Prince William and her three kids on a Flybe flight to Balmoral, Scotland. The Duchess of Cambridge is in fact said to regularly ask flight attendants to spare an entire seat for her stylish clothes so they don't get crimped as they likely would do if shoved in a checked-in baggage. Describing what it's like to travel as a royal in the newly released Channel 5 documentary 'Secrets of the Royal Flight', royal correspondent Emily Andrews says: "Obviously when we go to the airports, especially when it's hand luggage only, we're trying to cram all our toiletries into that plastic bag. ![]() ![]() "It's never big enough." The royals, however, "don't have to worry" when it comes to transporting luggage or not exceeding the 100ml liquid limit. Far from that, Andrews said she has "been on a plane where Kate's dresses had their own seat to make sure they were kept flat. "They are not going to be shoved in the hole just to be squashed by everyone else's." ![]() ![]() The two took the average £73 flight with their three children Charlotte, George and Louis to spend the late August bank holiday with the Queen at her summer residence. Kate and William's low-cost travelling came just as Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were blasted for taking private jets for half of 10 known trips in the past year, despite them both being environmental campaigners. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who previously said they wouldn't have more than two children to save the planet, were criticised after being seen pictured with their son Archie boarding a private jet to Nice last month. Prince Harry and his wife, however, seemed to have been stung by the criticism as they reportedly took a commercial flight to Rome this weekend to attend the wedding of US-based fashion designer Misha Nonoo, 31, and boyfriend Michael Hess. Nonoo is said to be one of the Duchess' best friends and the one who got her and Harry together. A source told The Sun : "They did fly commercial as Meghan was a bit stung by the criticism over her and Harry's use of private jets." The source added: "Misha helped introduce Harry to Meghan and the two women are the best of friends. "Meghan wasn't going to miss her wedding for the world." Kensington Palace declined to comment. |
