Amal Clooney wears a silver sequin dress in Sicily - Harper's Bazaar UK

Amal Clooney rarely sets a fashion foot wrong. The human rights lawyer has an enviable wardrobe – and is not only praised for her chic workwear classics, but for her impressive array of statement-making partywear.

Clooney attended an event in Sicily this weekend with her husband George, in celebration of her friend Charlotte Tilbury's 50th birthday – and wore a silver sequinned party dress for the occasion. The make-up artist and hair stylist Dimitris Giannetos shared a picture of her look, referring to it as "Studio 54 glam".

While many will associate shimmering sequins with all the glitz and glamour of Christmas party season, Clooney proves that they are a eveningwear classic that works just as well for summer too (including weddings, we might add, if you're searching for some guest-dress inspiration).

Clooney is a fan of a sequinned frock, no matter the season. Her fool-proof way of wearing one? She always opts for a neutral hue rather than anything more rainbow-hued; this goes-with-everything silver dress is a prime example. She also keeps it simple when it comes to silhouette, too – often embracing the timelessness and versatility of a simple slip dress, which, as a bonus, will never date.

In fact, such a fan is she, that last season Clooney was spotted wearing two shimmering ensembles in one evening. The first was a vintage 1999 John Galliano design – sourced from Mon Vintage – featuring hundreds of beads in a chevron print, for the premiere of Ticket To Paradise in London. Her second dazzling dress of the evening embraced yet more sequins, in the form of a yellow sleeved mini-dress by Stella McCartney, which she wore to the after-party.

Later that same month, she wore a golden beaded gown for the Clooney Foundation For Justice inaugural Albie Awards in New York, while in October 2021 she chose a shimmering white 16 Arlington gown for the London premiere of The Tender Bar.
