Top 9 Bridesmaid Dresses Online (Australia) - Who Posted: 30 Aug 2019 10:12 PM PDT RELATED: Wedding Toast: How To Write the Best Wedding Toast Speech What To Consider When Buying Bridesmaid DressesYour Wedding Date, Time, & LocationYour bridesmaids will not be happy if you stick them in a long-sleeved lace dress for a beach wedding. Always take into consideration where and when your wedding will be, and choose a bridesmaid dress that's appropriate for the setting. Your TimelineBridesmaid dresses take less time than a wedding dress, but you should still sort it out months in advance; otherwise, you run the risk of not getting the dress in time! You have a much shorter lead time if you buy dresses off the rack, but if you're getting the dresses customised or fit, you definitely can't leave it to the last minute. In emergency cases, a designer might be willing to rush it – for a price. Your Colour Palette/ThemeIt pretty much goes without saying that your bridesmaid dresses need to match the overall aesthetic of your ceremony. While you don't need to do an exact colour match, your bridal party shouldn't clash with your decor or your dress. Is it an outdoor wedding? Then a short floral dress could work. Are you going for a boho vibe? Long, flowy, and pastel is the way to go. Are you having a grand, luxurious ceremony? Ditch the neutral greys for a bright, metallic rose gold. Your Entourage's Body TypeTraditionally, bridesmaids all wear the same dress. While it might sound easier to just find one dress, it's actually quite difficult to find one that fits your bridal party's diverse body types and tastes. If you want to make each bridesmaid look and feel her best, you can jump in on the recent trend of mixing and matching bridesmaid dresses. One way to go about it is by picking different dresses in the same shade. But you can also get them in different colours (e.g. various shades of purple) – as long as it still aligns with your colour palette, it'll look great. Your BudgetWhile buying bridesmaid dresses online in Australia is usually cheaper than getting them at a bridal boutique, you can still rack up quite a bill if you're not careful. But you should also be wary about dresses that are too cheap, as the quality and fit might not be as good. Crunch the numbers and set a realistic budget for your bridesmaid dresses. You can save money by limiting your bridal party to just a few of your closest friends, going with lesser-known designers, or even renting instead of buying. Buying Local Versus Buying From Abroad: Is It Ok To Buy From Overseas Sellers?Ordering online is always a risk, whether you're buying from a local shop or from one overseas. Before you checkout your cart, do your due diligence. Read reviews, check out the seller's return/exchange policy, and order in advance so that you have time to iron out any kinks. Ellie Goulding's Wedding Dress Took More Than 640 Hours to Make - E! NEWS Posted: 31 Aug 2019 02:39 PM PDT ![]() Peter Byrne/PA Images Ellie Goulding's bridal look did not come quickly. When the star songstress arrived to York Minster cathedral in England on Saturday, ready to marry art dealer Caspar Jopling, she did so donning a standout custom Chloé design by Natacha Ramsay-Levi. According to the fashion house, Goulding's white gown was made of silk double crêpe and hand embroidered with White Roses of York, fitting for the York-based church, and embellished with white glass beads. The design featured long sleeves and a high neckline with a silk radizimir petticoat underneath. The special creation came with a hefty timeline: more than 640 hours to construct. The work did not stop there for the Chloé Paris atelier and its artisans. The star's handmade silk tulle veil and organza collar, embroidered with the bride and groom's initials, took 591 hours to create. In a statement, Ramsay-Levi explained the performer was "very involved" in the design of her dress and the two worked on a collage of Victorian era references the star wanted to "weave into" the final product. ![]() Peter Byrne/PA Images "Her creative point of view made the process fluid and inspiring, and I feel that the end result really reflects her personal sense of style," the designer said. "I wish Ellie and Caspar a most magical wedding day and my best wishes for their future together." The brand also outfitted Goulding's bridesmaids in matching pale blue dresses made in silk cadi embroidered with an organza braid at the waist. Ultimately, the newlywed's bridal wishes came to fruition. "I was so thrilled and excited to collaborate with Natacha at Chloé on my wedding dress. I have loved the brand and their incredible team for years, so it only seemed right for Chloé to play big part of this special day," Goulding said in a statement. "Natacha worked alongside me to design something timeless and classic, but with all the Chloé spirit. Natacha is a very talented designer and I have admired her work from day one," she continued. "I have never felt more special than the moment I first tried on the dress during my fitting in Paris, it was utterly awe-inspiring to see the craftsmanship and attention to detail." Congratulations to the stylish bride! |
Meet the patriot who dresses the armed forces - The Star Online Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:30 PM PDT PUTRAJAYA: Jalur Gemilang-inspired fashion turned heads at the National Day parade, but none more so than Mohammad Jamil Abdul Hamid who came decked in a suave red and white striped coat and a bright yellow shirt. Topping off his patriotic outfit that embodies "I love Malaysia" is a towering deep blue turban encircled with red and white jewels, and the iconic crescent and star hanging above it. "I designed this myself. Every Merdeka Day, I make something different. "It took me more than three weeks to create the turban, " said the 60-year-old Kuala Lumpur native who had been attending the National Day parades for the past 15 years. Mohammad Jamil is a third-generation tailor whose 85-year-old family business creates custom-made uniforms for the civil service."We make uniforms for the Malaysian Armed Forces, the Royal Johor Military Force, the Johor Royal Family, Customs Department, Immigration Department and even Bomba. "I have been in the trade for 42 years and have made hundreds of thousands of uniforms. "When I was a child in 1977, I started working with my father and grandfather making uniforms for the Defence Ministry, " he said. "It is more than a job. This is my patriotic duty, this is not only for money. This is my duty for my country. I am working for my country. "When I am sewing a jacket, I am making uniforms for one of the best armed forces in the world, " he said. Mohammad Jamil said it was not an easy task as every item had to be tailored accurately according to a very specific design. "We have to follow the guidelines to a tee – the number of buttons, the length and placement – it cannot move even 1cm up or down, " he said. As he watched the army men march down the street at Persiaran Perdana, Mohammad Jamil said he was scrutinising the costumes to make sure there were no mistakes in his and his team's handiwork. "So we can continue to tailor better uniforms for our civil servants, " he said, adding that he was grateful for the "important job" that allows him to serve the men who serve the country. "I always pray for them. I pray for my armed forces. I pray for my country. "My grandfather prays too. We pray for them to be safe, " he said, revealing that he was already training his 25-year-old son to continue the family business. Stay tuned for a new offer coming to you soon. ![]() |
