LOCAL FEATURED ON AMERICAN PICKERS.PNG
Are you a fan of History Channel's hit show American Pickers? Well, you may have recognized the city and collector in Mondays episode.
The show featured longtime Johnstown hair stylist and collector Jack Roscetti. American Pickers actually approached Roscetti about being on the show several years ago. But Roscetti said he wasn't ready to part with some of his collection until recently.
"Every day of my life, I come and visit parts of my life, and that's still intact," Roscetti said.
A Windber native, Roscetti's shop, "Jack Rosetti Salon," is a very personal portrayal of his life. His collecting all started thanks to one rock band.
"Ever since I was 20, probably, and I started to dress fashionably in the early stages of the Beatle era," Roscetti said.
Roscetti has been cutting hair in Johnstown for 55 years; his first store was in the Conrad building for more than 35 years. In 2009, he moved his business to its current location on Bedford Street.
All three floors of his salon feature vintage clothing, records, artwork -- you name it and Roscetti collects it. Many of the items are from his travels around the world.
But Roscetti said not everything had a price tag on it for American Pickers.
"Danielle and Mike said, 'Is that for sale?' And I said, 'Oh no, that's my Bob Dylan jacket. It's the jacket I wear every time I see Bob Dylan.' And they said, 'How many times have you seen Bob Dylan?' And I said, 'The 60s,70s 80s, 90s,'" Roscetti said.
