A-List Fashion Boutique: New business adds to Railside diversity - Grand Island Independent

Grand Island’s Railside community recently added another business to complement its growing group of diverse downtown retailers.

In November, A-List Fashion Boutique at 322 N. Pine St. opened its doors with a one-of-a-kind selection of boutique clothing, jewelry, shoes and handbags, along with kids and men’s apparel.

Before opening her brick-and-mortar store, owner Amanda Hadenfeldt started the business as an online retailer. She started selling clothing and accessories via her Facebook page (http://bit.ly/2HwSYlt) with a Margarita Monday program at 8 p.m. On Fridays, she broadcasts a program called “Live at Lunch” which is on at noon and features new arrivals to her store.

Born and raised in Grand Island, Hadenfeldt worked as an ultrasound technician for 10 years before deciding to enter the fashion business.

“What made me decide to open my boutique was whenever I had cute clothes on people would ask me where I got them from,” she said.

Hadenfeldt said after receiving many positive comments about her fashion choices, she decided to look into operating her own boutique business.

She said starting a boutique fit with her flair for fashion.

“I just have a passion for it,” Hadenfeldt said.

Along with providing unique fashions for her customers, Hadenfeldt said she also wants to provide clothing at affordable prices.

“I love to dress nice and cute, but I’m not going to pay a fortune for it either,” she said. “Everything at my store is moderately priced and affordable.”

Hadenfeldt said when shopping for her store, “I really try to keep everybody in mind. I try to get a diverse group of things here for everybody at a budget-friendly price point but still cute and classy looking.”

Another hallmark of A-List Fashion Boutique is customer service.

“That is why people like to shop at the little boutique versus the big chain stores,” Hadenfeldt said. “People love to get input on outfits that can be put together or someone should wear with a particular piece of clothing. That is what it’s all about, serving others, and they know when they walk out of here that they will have a super cute outfit on that will make them feel good.”

When she started her business as an online business last July, Hadenfeldt worked from her home.

“I thought it was a stepping stone to see if it was going to work,” she said. Her husband, Lee, is the owner of H and H Concrete and they have two children.

Hadenfeldt said during her online show, she would try on the various outfits she was selling. Customers would then order the pieces they liked.

“I knew in my heart that there was interest and it was going well. This (opening a store) was the next step,” she said.

Locating her shop in Grand Island’s Railside district was a natural choice.

“Downtown was totally the vibe I wanted for the store,” she said. “I love it down here. I love the character of downtown and where it is going to great things. I felt this is where we belonged. It is cool to be a part of it down here.”

Hadenfeldt said that, in late February, she is planning to add a line of men’s clothing and accessories.

“We are going to offer trendy clothing, yet affordable,” she said.

With both men’s, women’s and children clothing and accessories, Hadenfeldt wants to turn the store into a one-stop boutique experience. She said the store is getting new clothing each week, which adds to the fashion choices and diversity.

“I’m very particular about that,” she said. “I never get two runs of something because I want to keep it unique, especially in a small community as I want everybody to feel that they are dressing differently from everybody else. I don’t want to have too much of the same things.”

Also, Hadenfeldt said she has clothing for all ages from children to older customers.

“We serve all ages here,” she said. “I want everybody who comes in here to find something. I am here to help people feel confident and to feel good about themselves.”

Hadenfeldt said the store’s motto is “Escape the Ordinary.”

She said they are also in the stages of designing an app for the A-List Fashion Boutique.

A-List Fashion Boutique is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Ladies’ Night is every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
