Sports apparel giant Fanatics Inc. moves into Laser Spine headquarters - Tampa Bay Times Posted: 08 Jan 2020 02:48 PM PST TAMPA — The Laser Spine Institute's abruptly vacated Tampa headquarters has a new tenant. Fanatics Inc., a giant in the sporting apparel industry, announced this week that it now rents three of the building's six floors. Fanatics specializes in fan gear, jerseys and licensed apparel. The 5332 Avion Park Dr. location in the Westshore area will house Fanatics' in-house apparel division, Fanatics Brands, which designs and plans the distribution and creation for its gear. The apparel division has been spread across three locations in Tampa. "This space will join many of our teams under one roof and allow us to better engage with our employees, foster creativity and create an enhanced environment of teamwork," said Fanatics Brands president Joe Bozich in a release. The 176,000-square-foot space became available after the Laser Spine Institute shuttered without warning in March. The 14-year-old institute closed largely because of financial issues. "Despite significant cost saving activities over the last 6 months — including closing three surgical centers — that dramatically reduced its operating cost structure, the company has been unable to achieve a financially sustainable path forward," the company said in a statement at the time. Fanatics is dually headquartered in Jacksonville and San Mateo, Calif. Despite the size of its new space, the company said, the move is not a headquarters relocation. As of 2018, the company had about 500 employees in the Tampa Bay area and 2,500 in Florida. The company has absorbed several major competitors over the past several years. Fanatics acquired competitor Fansedge in 2011 and sports apparel brand Majestic in 2017. In addition to selling fan merchandise, it also contracts with many major sports teams to sell licensed merchandise, including the exclusive rights to sell National Hockey League replica jerseys. One of its 63 partnering professional teams is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as of March. "They're an industry leader in licensed sports merchandising, and we're going to draw off of their expertise," said Bucs chief operating officer Brian Ford, in an interview with the Tampa Bay Times at the time. According to Fanatics spokesman Brandon Williams, Fanatics will move into the former Laser Spine building in phases, completing the first phase by the end of 2020. |
PHOTOS: New Pastel Rainbow Apparel Collection Now Available at Disneyland Resort - wdwnt.com Posted: 08 Jan 2020 04:33 PM PST This post may contain affiliate links; please read the disclosure for more information. You know, I think I heard it somewhere that the world is a carousel of color. Well, if you like colorful apparel from the Disneyland Resort, a new line of clothing at the Downtown Disney District might be perfect for you! Rainbow Gradient Disneyland Resort Logo T-Shirt – $29.99This gray-green t-shirt features the Disneyland Resort logo in a gradient of blue, purple, red, orange, and yellow. It's perfect if you like rainbows without green in them! Tie-Dye Disneyland Resort Long-Sleeved Pullover – $49.99If you want something that'll remind you of the 1980's, this acid-washed tie-dye pullover will take you back to the era of legwarmers and Captain EO! The one big issue with this pullover is that the Disneyland Resort logo isn't terribly legible with green paint on a green background. (So I guess if you missed green on the last shirt, then they kind of overcompensated on this one.) Red Three-Color Disneyland Resort Logo T-Shirt – $29.99If you want something that's somehow louder and more understated, try this red three-color Disneyland Resort logo t-shirt. While it's not as wild as tie-dye, saying "Disneyland" three times is pretty attention-catching. Here's a very close look at the fabric. It looks pretty comfy! Tie-Dye Disneyland Resort Sweatpants – $44.99Speaking of comfy, here's something that screams "comfort:" a pair of tie-dye sweatpants! As you can see, the logo is much easier to read when it's not on a green part of the tie-dye. Boy, those may say "Disneyland," but it sure feels like "staying in and binge-watching The Imagineering Story" to me! Blue Tie-Dye Mickey Mouse Face Disneyland Resort T-Shirt – $24.99What's Disneyland without Mickey Mouse? This blue t-shirt features Mickey's face on a tie-dye background. This one looks like it's on your standard Disney Parks t-shirt. Still, that's not bad. You can find all of these items at World of Disney in the Downtown Disney District, though it wouldn't be surprising if these start showing up around the Disneyland Resort. Which one lights up your interest? Let us know in the comments below! Fashion Apparel Manufacturing Disruption in the 2020s - WWD Posted: 08 Jan 2020 09:02 PM PST Congratulations to @chloessevigny who is expecting her first child. In this WWD photoshoot (before the now 45-year-old actress' opening at Cannes in May 2019), she spoke to us about fashion, growing up in growing up in Darien, Connecticut, and how her parents encouraged her and her brother — DJ, club owner and artist Paul Sevigny — to pursue their interests in the arts. "I was very into costumes and wearing, like, only a Wonder Woman swimsuit all day, every day, and sequins and crazy outfits. I came out of the womb into adornment. It's an innate thing I've been exploring my whole life," said Sevigny. As for her current mood: "I think, being 44, it's like that transitional phase. I want to go for chic but still a bit alternative." Tap the link in bio to read the full interview.
